Immanent Critique

Stahl, Titus | Book chapter in The Cambridge Habermas Lexicon, 2019

Abstract

This article argues that Habermas takes up the commitment of critical theories explicitly on a methodological level, in how he relates to other theories. On the substantive level of social critique, he does not explicitly endorse an immanent approach, but his critique of colonization can be reconstructed as a form of immanent critique.
